New Custom Home Breaks Ground at Upper Pavilion Hill
By Katherine Verano in Community, Real Estate, St. Kitts
The exclamation point to the summer's flurry of construction activity has to be the groundbreaking and beginning of earthworks for a new private home to be constructed in the upper Pavilion Hill area at Christophe Harbour. Designed by Morehouse MacDonald and Associates and built by Bennett Hofford Construction, the 5,500-sq ft custom residence will overlook The Pavilion, beautiful Sandy Bank Bay and the harbour, and when complete in Fall 2018 will be the first custom home built on the upper hillside and the first to be built for full-time residents.
The home's multi-level custom design fits gracefully into the sloped terrain of Pavilion Hill and takes advantage of the incredible views to the west and north across Christophe Harbour. "We are always pleased with how the talented local artisans in St. Kitts take our designs and bring them to life," said architect John MacDonald. "They meticulously craft the island's indigenous materials like Nevis stone, mahogany and coral stone to seamlessly blend the built environment into the natural island fabric."
Some unique design aspects of this newest custom home include a stair tower sheathed in Nevis stone that faces east and embraces a protected Zen garden. The glass roof brings in eastern light and provides great views of St. Anthony's Peak from the home's interior. As is the standard within Christophe Harbour, the design and construction team will incorporate the finest infrastructure, hurricane windows, A/V, security and amenities to create a true world-class home for the owners.
When complete, this residence will bring the total number of completed villas to 27. Several additional custom homes are slated to break ground this Fall along with Phase 2 units at Ocean Grove within Sandy Bank Bay.
