Making a Splash in St. Barths
By Katherine Verano in Yachting
In March, Christophe Harbour sponsored The Bucket Regatta, held in St. Barths. The regatta featured 35 super-yacht sailing ships. After the race, the ships were invited to sail over to Christophe Harbour’s Whitehouse Bay, which offers some of the finest anchorage in the Caribbean, for a visit to St. Kitts.
In 1995, the St. Barths Bucket started with a fleet of just 4 yachts. This year, The Bucket Regatta overflowed with applicants, hoping to fill one of 30 coveted super-yacht spots. March 28 kicked off the much anticipated 3-day event. The emphasis placed on having fun widely overshadows the competitiveness to win, which organizers believe to be the reason for such success each year. The main focus is placed on keeping the original, non-commercial nature of the event. Sponsorship is exclusively funded by the Marine Industry.
Christophe Harbour was one of the sponsors of The Bucket Regatta this year, represented by CEO Buddy Darby and the captain and crew of the S/Y Andromeda la Dea. After the race, the fleet was invited to sail over to Christophe Harbour’s Whitehouse Bay, which offers some of the finest anchorage in the Caribbean, for a visit to Christophe Harbour and beautiful St. Kitts.
