Christophe Harbour and Range Developments hosted a 2-day design charette on St. Kitts to plan the designs for the new Park Hyatt St Kitts hotel at Banana Bay. The creative retreat was led by Simeon Halstead of Arcadia Design Architects, lead architect for the project, and included landscape architect Peter Imrik of Site Concepts International, interior decorator Clodagh and Nancie Minh of Clodagh Design, and Mark Permar, chief land planner for Kiawah Partners.
The team prepared two conceptual designs for the hotel and will present them to Hyatt Corporation at its headquarters in Chicago in January 2013. “As soon as Hyatt approves the design, we will accelerate development of the hotel very quickly," said Mohammed Asaria, Vice Chairman of Range Developments, the hotel developer.
The walked the entire 30-acre site, carefully examining the numerous Caribbean waterfront views and spent several hours fine-tuning creative ideas and plans for the hotel and spa. “For me, [this retreat] confirms that it's the right approach to planning," said Halstead. "I wanted to get intimately familiar with the site and experience the views from all angles.”Following the retreat, Halstead and the design team shared the conceptual designs with Prime Minister Denzil Douglas, Minister for Tourism Ricky Skerritt, Christophe Harbour’s Phil Keb and Mr. Asaria.
On July 10, 2012, Range Developments, Christophe Harbour, and an affiliate of Hyatt Hotel Corporation signed an agreement to build and operate an ultra-luxury Park Hyatt hotel at Christophe Harbour, St. Kitts. Park Hyatt St. Kitts will encompass 200 hotel rooms, 50 branded residential condominiums, a spa, pools, meeting facilities, and three restaurants.
