Bunkering Benefits Now Available for Yachts Preparing for End-of-Season Transit
As yachts gear up fo end-of-season relocations and Atlantic crossings, The Marina at Chrisotphe Harbour is offering the added benefit of a complomentary night to make bunkering as efficient as possible.
With the St. Kitts marina offering competitively-priced, duty-free fuel (approximately 10 cents less per US gallon than the regional average) and expert marina management who operate the docks as they would a superyacht, visiting yachts are reporting one of the most efficient bunkering services they’ve experienced.
“When we say we’re ready to fuel at 0900hrs, we are ready to literally pump fuel at 0900hrs on the button,” says Christophe Harbour director of yachting, Aeneas Hollins.
With in-berth fuelling, a safe and secure marina and one night’s complimentary berthage for bunkering yachts, Christophe Harbour’s fuel farm is being hailed as the most sophisticated in the region, however it’s the service that stands out for yachts.
"Pulling into The Marina at Christophe Harbour with a 70+ metre motoryacht at 1600hrs and with guests onboard for a quick clear in and out while taking on fuel could not have gone smoother had we planned it in advance. The extra steps [the marina] staff took to permit us to keep to a very tight schedule were highly-appreciated,” said the senior captain from M/Y Laurel. “I would whole-heartedly recommend Christophe Harbour for that reason alone - on top of how nice and happy the staff were.”
A skilled marina crew member greets yachts by tender, continuing the communication begun long before the vessel reaches St. Kitts shores. American Express is accepted onsite, and shoreside amenities include guest and crew services and support, retail shops, and SALT Plage, named by Condé Nast Traveller as one of the best beachside cafes in the world. Key to the success of the new fuel farm has been the extensive training the onsite team has undergone to make bunkering efficient and safe, with strict adherence to communication, speed, and spill-readiness countermeasures.
The facility is the largest fuel farm dedicated to a marina in the Eastern Caribbean with an onsite tank capacity of 48,000 US gallons. This enables the marina to offer 40,000 US gallons per day of in-slip fuelling for vessels, with up to 125 gallons per minute of Sol-supplied, ultra-low sulphur diesel.
The complimentary night offer is valid until April 30, 2017 for any vessel making a minimum purchase of 3,000 gallons of fuel. For more information on bunkering services and capabilities, please contact The Marina at Christophe Harbour at [email protected] or +1 869-465-9755.
