The Pavilion Hosts World Poker Tour Alpha8 Event

This weekend Christophe Harbour welcomed over 20 elite poker players to The Pavilion beach club for a two day, world-class event. The WPT Alpha8 event - an exclusive series of high-stakes poker tournaments held at the most prestigious gaming resorts around the world - was action packed as many of the game's top players made the trip to our beachside private club to play in the $100,000 buy-in tournament. The tournament consisted of a few friendly faces as two of our very own founding members, Bill Perkins and Greg Whalley participated in the event.

St. Kitts Debuts Region’s First Solar Farm

The St. Kitts Ministry of Tourism has announced the opening of a 1.0-megawatt solar powered energy grid. Created to provide operational power to the St. Christopher Air, Sea and Ports Authority (SCASPA), the airport-located solar farm is the most recent green energy partnership between Taiwan and St. Kitts. Other partnership initiatives include solar and LED highway lighting, the installation of solar panels at the island’s government headquarters and the development of an agro-tourism farm.

The solar farm is a joint venture of the Governments of St. Kitts & Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan), SCASPA, the Sugar Industry Diversification Fund, and The St. Kitts Electricity Corporation. The US $2.5 million solar farm is expected to save SCASPA more than EC $1...

Osprey Invasion

The following is a recent birding report written by Kittitian birder Michael Ryan.

Bird watchers and curious onlookers were fascinated to observe a massive influx to St. Kitts of one of the majestic birds of prey, the Osprey.

While driving on the South East Peninsula road, directly opposite the construction of the Christophe Harbour project by the Great Salt Pond, eighteen Ospreys were counted in the trees on both sides of the road in a distance of no longer than a half a mile, and one was flying for a total of nineteen. This ad hoc count occurred during a heavy drizzle, just prior to the heavy rainstorm that subsequently closed schools and some business establishments.
