CUSTOM CRAFTED

By Katherine Verano in Community, Marina, Shopping, St. Kitts, Yachting

Architect John Denton Haley is at it again—and the craftsmanship levels are high. The design mastermind behind the Bungalows, Pavilion, and SALT Plage, Haley’s fourth major project for Christophe Harbour will be the centerpiece of the newly-completed superyacht marina.

"This is the building that could define Christophe Harbour and St Kitts to the world."

Contemporary shops and residences will follow as the marina village grows, he explains, but the Customs House (a working title) will hold its own as classic and timeless—with the look and feel of a formidable shipping building or wharfside warehouse built long ago. At first sight of the design, Haley says many Kittitians often recall the circa-1894...

New Ownership + Momentum = SUCCESS

By Katherine Verano in Community, Golf, Hotel, Marina, Real Estate, St. Kitts, Yachting

All around the peninsula, you can see the difference. Locals and longtime visitors can sense a change in the tradewinds.

Christophe Harbour is rapidly taking shape on St. Kitts, particularly noticeable in the past year since the Sugar Industry Diversity Foundation (SIDF) and the Darby Family Investment Group established their partnership.

Speedier, soulful progress can be seen at every curve, hillside and beach. SALT Plage is now open on Whitehouse Bay serving cool drinks and ceviche by the sea—the bar’s open-air design incorporates local artifacts from the island’s historic sugar and salt industries.

Dredging work and the first phase of the Marina is now proceeding on schedule, and is expected...

Lead Contractor Announced for Superyacht Marina Construction

By Katherine Verano in Marina, St. Kitts, Yachting

We are pleased to announce the appointment of American Bridge Company as lead contractor for construction of the Christophe Harbour superyacht marina on the Eastern Caribbean island of St. Kitts.

“This marina will be the heartbeat of Christophe Harbour and unlike anything that exists in the region today, so it was imperative that we find a firm who could deliver a final product that met not only our internal expectations, but also those of the yachting industry,” said Charles Darby, Christophe Harbour Director of Development. “We are very pleased to have American Bridge leading this project and look forward to a very fruitful partnership.”

Beginning next month, American Bridge will commence construction on the first phase...

Excavation of the Caribbean’s finest Superyacht Marina Continues

By Katherine Verano in Marina, Yachting

It’s a bird, It’s a Plane, It’s…… Amphibex.  We are all enjoying watching from the office windows as this excavator works its little heart out in the harbour. Not only does it operate in the water, it also has these super cool stabilizers and buckets that allow it to walk about on land too. Amphibex is making swift work of the remaining dredge area in the marina.

Despite its reputation as a lean, mean excavating machine, it's also quite gentle. The propeller can be raised if working in shallow waters to protect marine life and vegetation and also to avoid kicking up sediment on the seabed.

And perhaps best...

Whatever Floats Your Boat?

By Katherine Verano in Yachting

Christophe Harbour is working its way through what we predict will be a very busy year. We have recently completed installation of a 240-foot long section of floating dock and superyacht moorings in the Christophe Harbour yacht basin. This interim facility can hold up to six superyachts within the protected inner harbour. Excavation at the marina continues, with current depths in the yacht basin at 18 feet or more and 15 feet at the mouth of the harbour. Once completed, the Superyacht Marina will be the focal point of Christophe Harbour. We just sold the last homesite in the initial release of property at Harbourside. Continued updates to follow—Did you really think we’d let you off the hook?
