Prime Minister Denzil Douglas Remains in Office

On Thursday, 8 January, Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas announced the people of the twin-island Federation would go to the polls on Monday, 25 January. Dr. Douglas sought a fourth term as Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. In office since 1995, the Labor Party took power from the People’s Action Movement (PAM) who had ruled since 1980. The opposition candidate, Harvard educated lawyer Lindsay Grant has led the PAM since 2000.

Campaigning commenced heavily in weeks prior to the election. Dr. Douglas turned his campaign focus toward the economy and government debt. Sales Assistant Molly Parnes Participates in Carnival

This year, Sales Assistant Molly Parnes was in the midst of all the action on the day of the final parade in Basseterre. The Carnival theme this year was Viva Las Vegas, so Molly happily accepted the invitation to participate in the afternoon-long event upon hearing of the glamorous costume consisting of headdress, feathered body suit, and the chance to be adorned head to toe in sparkles and glitter. Molly was part of the Inferno St. Kitts Troupes, composed of three small troupes; Molly was assigned to the ShowGirls troupe, dressed in all white. The two other troupes were Moulin Rouge dressed in red and Oasis dressed in green.

The Beach House accepts award for “Restaurant of the Year”

Basseterre, SK (October 28, 2009)—The 9th Annual 2009 St. Kitts Tourism Awards results are in as Christophe Harbour’s Beach House Restaurant is named “Restaurant of the Year”.

Operations Manager Ericson Browne accepted the award at the ceremony, held October 28 at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.  “The Beach House award for ‘Restaurant of the Year’ is directly attributable to the hard work and dedication of our predominately local staff and their overall commitment to excellence in service,” says Browne.

St. Kitts and Nevis Prepares for 2009 Carnival Season

The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is preparing for its annual Carnival, an explosion of cultural excitement and creativity.  The two-week carnival event begins with an opening ceremony on 18 December and culminates with the Jump Up street party on 2 January 2010, known locally as “Last Lap”.   This unusual tradition of simultaneously celebrating Christmas and carnival is one of the several characteristics that make St. Kitts such a special Caribbean island to visit.  Hundreds of returning nationals and visitors are expected to head for popular Carnival events in the run up to the Christmas holidays, as Carnival moves in to high gear.  One of the highlights is the J’Ouvert Jam on Boxing Day when local soca...

Christophe Harbour Launches in London

London opened its doors to Christophe Harbour at the Metropolitan Hotel, where the project officially launched its UK sales and marketing effort. In collaboration with Aylesford International, Christophe Harbour's UK broker affiliate, the Metropolitan's White Room was transformed into a Caribbean escape for the evening. With walls draped in white linens accented by candlelight, hurricanes full of tropical flowers, and a menu of Caribbean-themed canapes and beverages, the evening proved to be a great escape for a chilly London evening. 

 I am happy to report we believe last nights event to be a success.  We had about 50 quality folks attend....and would say we will see 3 or 4 trips to St Kitts come from it. Some definite potential clients! ...
